Irresistible nut squares that will quickly become your signature dish and a crowd favorite, guaranteed.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 bag (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1 can (12 ounces) salted mixed nuts
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, 1 cup of butter, vanilla, and egg. Mix in the flour. Spread the mixture evenly in the bottom of an ungreased 13x9x2-inch rectangular pan. Bake for 20 to 22 minutes until light brown. Allow to cool for 20 minutes before serving.
  • In a small saucepan, gently melt chocolate chips, corn syrup, and 2 tablespoons of butter over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Let cool for 20 minutes before using.
  • Smooth the luscious chocolate mixture over the crust, then generously sprinkle with nuts and gently press them into the chocolate. Allow it to chill in the refrigerator, uncovered, for approximately 2 hours until the chocolate is delightfully firm. To make 48 squares, simply cut into 8 rows by 6 rows. Keep the squares covered in the refrigerator for later indulgence.
