Total Time:
Delectable biscotti, perfect for dipping in melted chocolate or drizzling with slivered almonds instead of hazelnuts.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (4 ounce) package bittersweet chocolate bar with almond nougat, chopped
  • 1 cup chopped hazelnuts
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) and prepare the cookie sheet by greasing and lightly flouring it.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl.
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. Mix in eggs and vanilla. Gradually add the flour mixture, ensuring it is well incorporated after each addition. Gently fold in chocolate and nuts.
  • Take the dough and evenly divide it into two portions. Shape each portion into a log that is 14 inches long, 1-1/2 inches wide, and 1 inch thick on a floured surface. Place the logs two inches apart on a lined cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Transfer to a cutting board and allow to cool for 5 minutes. Slice diagonally into 3/4 inch thick pieces, then place back on the cookie sheet standing upright.
  • Continue baking for an additional 10 minutes, or until the texture is slightly dry. Allow to cool completely on wire racks.
