One-pan wonder: Easy, delicious dish with a self-made sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 0.75 cup packed brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.5 cups boiling water
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a 9-inch square pan, combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Use a fork to blend in milk, oil, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Evenly spread the thick batter in the pan. Sprinkle with brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa. Generously pour boiling water over the batter.
  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40 minutes. Allow to cool for 15 minutes, then serve in dessert dishes or as squares. Invert onto plates, drizzle with sauce, and add a scoop of ice cream or whipped topping, if desired.
