Total Time:
Decadent chocolate thumbprint cookies that pair perfectly with a tall glass of milk.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 2 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 48 milk chocolate candy kisses, unwrapped
  • 0.33333334326744 cup granulated sugar for decoration
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease the cookie sheets.
  • In a medium bowl, beat the butter and sugar until creamy. Mix in 2 egg yolks, melted chocolate, and vanilla. Combine the flour and salt, then fold into the mixture.
  • Beat the remaining egg whites in a small bowl. Roll dough into walnut sized balls, dip in egg whites, and then coat with sugar (or chopped nuts). Place on prepared cookie sheets and make a small indentation with your thumb. Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie when they come out. Allow to cool, then spread the chocolate kiss like frosting, if desired.
