Homemade Chocolate Truffles: luxurious, personalized, and party-perfect treats that will vanish in seconds!
Ingredients:
  • 6 ounces semisweet baking chocolate or white chocolate baking bars, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips or white vanilla baking chips
  • 1 tablespoon shortening
  • Finely chopped nuts or candy decorations, if desired
Instructions:
  • Line a cookie sheet with foil. In a 2-quart saucepan, gently melt the baking chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly. Add the butter and stir until smooth. Take off the heat, then mix in the whipping cream. Transfer the mixture to a small bowl and chill for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it reaches a thick consistency.
  • Place rounded teaspoonfuls of the mixture on a lined cookie sheet and chill in the refrigerator for 5 to 10 minutes until firm. Shape the mixture into balls and freeze uncovered for 30 minutes.
  • In a 1-quart saucepan, melt chocolate chips and shortening over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Take off heat. Dip and roll chocolate balls one by one in the melted chocolate using 2 forks, tapping off excess chocolate. Place on lined cookie sheet, sprinkle with nuts immediately. Reheat chocolate if needed. Repeat with remaining chocolate balls.
  • Chill truffles for about 10 minutes until chocolate is set. Keep them in a covered container in the refrigerator. Take them out of the refrigerator 10 minutes before serving.
