Delightful Halloween treats: chocolate cupcakes topped with buttercream, transformed into adorable witches' hats with ice-cream cones. Perfect for kids!
Ingredients:
  • 150g dark chocolate melts
  • 50g Copha, chopped
  • 18 ice-cream cones
  • Silver sugar, to decorate
  • 18 chocolate cupcakes (see notes)
  • 250g ready-made fondant icing
  • Wilton Orange Gel Paste, to tint
  • Pure icing sugar, to dust
  • Melted chocolate, to attach
  • Black writing icing, to decorate
  • 250g unsalted butter, at room temperature, chopped
  • 300g (2 cups) icing sugar, sifted
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) milk
Instructions:
  • Prepare a baking tray with lined baking paper and set a wire rack on top. Melt chocolate and Copha in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals on High. Hold ice cream cones over the bowl and generously coat with chocolate, letting excess drip off. Dip the tips in silver sugar for decoration. Transfer to the wire rack and let set.
  • To make the buttercream, use electric beaters to whip the butter in a bowl for 5 minutes until light and fluffy. Slowly mix in the icing sugar and milk in batches until fully blended. Add orange food coloring for a vibrant hue. Transfer the buttercream to a piping bag fitted with a 1cm fluted nozzle and decorate the chocolate cupcakes. Finish by dusting with silver sugar.
  • Color the fondant orange and thoroughly knead it. Roll out the fondant on a surface dusted with icing sugar until it's 3mm thick. Cut strips that are big enough to encircle the base of each cone as a hatband. Secure them using a small amount of melted chocolate. Use the writing icing to create buckles on the bands. Place a cone hat on each cupcake that has been iced.
