Indulge in irresistible chocolate chip pecan bars made with Gold Medal® flour - a decadent dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup cold butter or margarine, cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter (do not use margarine)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 4 cups coarsely chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • 1 bag (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
  • 4 teaspoons shortening
  • Kosher salt, if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line a 13x9-inch pan with foil, then grease the foil with shortening. In a food processor, combine flour, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, salt, and 3/4 cup butter. Blend until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add the egg and mix until a dough ball forms. Press the dough into the pan.
  • Bake for 15 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Allow to cool on a cooling rack. Meanwhile, lower oven temperature to 325°F. In a 3-quart saucepan, combine brown sugar, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1 cup butter, and honey over medium heat until butter is melted. Increase heat to high and boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in pecans, whipping cream, and orange peel. Pour the mixture over the crust.
  • Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the filling is set at least 2 inches from the edge of the pan but the center still has a slight jiggle. Let it cool completely. Cut the baked item into small triangles. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate chips and shortening for 1 to 2 minutes until smooth. Dip the tip of each triangle into the glaze and sprinkle with salt.
