Indulge in decadent orange, pecan, and chocolate chip cookies for a sweet treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 3/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon shortening
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer on medium speed to thoroughly blend all ingredients except pecans, chocolate chips, and shortening. Gently fold in the pecans.
  • Place dough on a 14-inch piece of plastic wrap and shape it into a 12-inch long roll with a 2-inch diameter. Wrap it in the plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 2 hours, or until firm.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (or 350°F for dark or nonstick sheets). Slice dough into 1/4-inch pieces with a sharp knife and place them 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 8 to 12 minutes until edges turn golden brown. Transfer from the baking sheet to a wire rack. Allow to cool completely for around 30 minutes.
  • Microwave chocolate chips and shortening in a small microwavable dish on High for about 1 minute until softened. Stir until smooth. Dip half of each cookie into the chocolate, letting the excess drip back into the dish. Place on waxed paper and allow the chocolate to set for about 30 minutes.
