Ingredients:
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange peel
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup fat-free cholesterol-free egg product
  • 2 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 ounces semisweet baking chocolate, melted
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Combine sugar, applesauce, orange peel, vanilla, and egg substitute in a large bowl. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth.
  • On an ungreased cookie sheet, shape half of the dough into a 10x3 inch rectangle.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool on the cookie sheet for 15 minutes before serving.
  • Slice the bread into 1/2-inch slices and arrange them cut side down on a baking sheet. Bake for about 15 minutes, flipping once, until they are crispy and golden brown. Remove from the oven and cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Dip one end of every cookie into luscious melted chocolate. Lay them on waxed paper until the chocolate sets.
