Award-winning sweet and salty toffee bars with a surprise twist: potato chips add a delightful crunch.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ peanut butter cookie mix
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups lightly crushed potato chips
  • 1 cup salted peanuts
  • 1 bag (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and generously coat a 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray.
  • Combine the cookie base ingredients in a large bowl until a soft dough forms. Press the dough into the bottom of the pan. Bake for 10 minutes or until the dough is just set.
  • In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil for 1 minute.
  • Add a delightful layer of potato chips and peanuts on the partially baked base. Drizzle the heavenly brown sugar mixture over the top. Bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the surface is beautifully bubbly.
  • Evenly scatter chocolate chips over the chips and peanuts. Bake for 2 minutes to melt the chocolate. Spread the melted chocolate over the filling. Let it cool completely for about 2 hours. Refrigerate for 30 minutes until the chocolate sets. Cut into bars by making 8 rows by 4 rows. Keep covered at room temperature.
