Delicious smoky bacon and spicy chorizo paired with sweet dates, a hit with the whole family!
Ingredients:
  • 1 chorizo sausage link
  • 12 pitted dates
  • 3 slices bacon, cut into fourths
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
Instructions:
  • Prepare the chorizo by cutting off the ends, then slice it into 12 cubes. Stuff each cube into a date and wrap with bacon, securing with toothpicks. This can be prepared in advance.
  • Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat. Place dates in the pan with bacon seam side down. Fry until golden on both sides until bacon is cooked through. Serve now or continue to coat and fry.
  • Preheat the oil to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C. Whisk the egg and water in a small bowl. Coat the dates with flour, dip into the egg, and fry in hot oil until golden, about 4 minutes. Drain and serve immediately.
