Easy 3-ingredient chocolate puff pastry Christmas tree recipe for festive baking.
Ingredients:
  • 2 x 375g pkts Carême Puff Pastry
  • 82.50 gm choc-hazelnut spread
  • 1 Egg
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 210°C/190°C fan forced. Roll out both sheets of 375g Carême Puff Pastry to 28 x 36cm rectangles. Lay one rectangle on a baking paper. Score a large triangle on the pastry with a short side facing you.
  • Spread the rich choc-hazelnut spread evenly over the triangle, ensuring it stays within the edges. Layer the last rectangle of pastry on top and firmly press the edges to seal in the delectable filling. Chill in the fridge for 15 minutes until the pastry is wonderfully firm.
  • Place the triangle-shaped pastry in front of you with the shortest side facing you. Cut along the sealed edges to create a triangle filled with chocolate spread. Set aside the pastry scraps. Trim two strips from the base of the triangle to create a tree trunk. Cut lines starting from a 2cm-wide strip down the middle of the triangle, spaced 2cm apart, resembling tree branches.
  • Starting from the bottom, gently twist the pastry branches outwards. Brush them with beaten egg. Cut out a star from the leftover pastry scraps and place it on top of the branches; then brush it with more egg. Sprinkle sesame seeds over it. Bake until the pastry is golden and fully cooked, about 15-20 minutes.
