Festive and flavorful Christmas tree Rice Krispies® treats topped with white chocolate and dried fruit.
Ingredients:
  • 6 cups crispy rice cereal (such as Rice Krispies®)
  • 0.33333334326744 cup chopped dried cranberries
  • 0.33333334326744 cup chopped dried apricots
  • 1 small orange, zested and juiced
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 (10 ounce) package large marshmallows
  • 0.33333334326744 cup dried apricots, or as needed
  • 0.33333334326744 cup dried cranberries, or as needed
  • 0.5 cup chopped white chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Instructions:
  • Combine crispy rice cereal, cranberries, and apricots in a large bowl, gently toss to mix, and set aside.
  • In a large saucepan over low heat, melt butter with orange zest, orange juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt, and cloves. Stir until well combined. Add marshmallows and continuously stir for 3 to 5 minutes until fully melted.
  • Pour the marshmallow mixture over the cereal and mix thoroughly until the cereal is coated evenly.
  • Grease hands and a 1/3 cup measure with a bit of butter or oil. Shape 1/3 cup of the cereal mixture into a tree, pressing firmly and flattening the bottom. Repeat, greasing hands as necessary, until all the mixture is used. Let the trees cool and harden for 15 to 30 minutes.
  • Cut whole apricots into star shapes using a sharp paring knife or small cookie cutter. Reserve the scraps for additional decoration. Chop dried cranberries for garnish.
  • In a small heat-proof bowl, melt the white chocolate and butter in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Mix well, then transfer the smooth white chocolate into a piping bag.
  • Drizzle white chocolate over the trees in beautiful patterns, focusing on the tops to attach the apricot stars. Use any leftover white chocolate to stick extra chopped apricots and cranberries wherever you like. If the chocolate starts to harden, warm it in the microwave for 10 seconds. Let the chocolate completely set on the trees before serving.
