Transform frozen bread dough into a delightful cinnamon bread perfect for gifting or holiday breakfasts.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (1 pound) loaf frozen bread dough, thawed
  • 0.25 cup butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions:
  • 1. Roll out bread dough into an 8x15 inch rectangle. Leave a 1/2-inch border unbuttered on one long edge. Spread butter evenly over the rest of the dough. Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour, then sprinkle the mixture over the buttered area.
  • Roll the dough tightly over the filling, starting from the long edge opposite the unbuttered edge, then seal along the unbuttered edge to form a log.
  • Grease a 12-inch round cake pan or baking dish, place the dough in the pan, and shape it into a ring by pinching the two ends together. Use kitchen scissors or a sharp knife to make 3/4-inch deep cuts around the outside of the ring. Gently twist the cut sections of dough to expose the filling.
  • Cover the tea ring with a cloth and allow it to rise in a warm area until doubled in size, which should take about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Bake the tea ring in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes until lightly browned. If it starts browning too quickly, cover it with foil after 15 minutes. Allow the tea ring to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to finish cooling.
  • Make a smooth frosting by mixing confectioners' sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Spread the top of the tea ring with the frosting.
