Delicious, flavorful cornbread recipe that yields a larger loaf. Easily made in a bread maker or bread machine.
Ingredients:
  • 1 egg
  • 0.25 cup nonfat dry milk powder
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 3 cups bread flour or all-purpose flour
  • 0.33333334326744 cup cornmeal
  • 0.66666668653488 cup frozen corn kernels, thawed and drained
  • 1.5 teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon bread machine yeast
Instructions:
  • Add the ingredients to the bread machine pan following the manufacturer's instructions. Place the pan into the machine, close the lid, and choose the Dough cycle. Start the machine.
  • After the cycle finishes, transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and deflate it gently. Shape the dough into a tight loaf, seal the seam, and place it in a 9x5 inch loaf pan. Allow it to rise for approximately 40 minutes or until gently pressed with your finger, leaving an impression.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the loaf for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. It should sound hollow when tapped on the bottom to confirm it's done.
