Easy-to-make Mexican churros coated in cinnamon sugar, perfect on their own or paired with luscious chocolate dipping sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup water
  • 2.5 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 quarts oil for frying
  • 0.5 cup white sugar, or to taste
Instructions:
  • In a small saucepan, bring water, 2 ½ tablespoons sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil to a boil over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in flour until a ball forms.
  • Preheat oil in a deep fryer or deep pot to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Place the dough into a robust pastry bag with a medium star tip attached. Gently pipe a few 5- to 6-inch strips of dough into the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden, then use a spider or slotted spoon to transfer the churros to paper towels to drain.
  • Mix together 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Coat drained churros with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
