Cinnamon bread topped with powdered sugar and optional raisins.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 0.25 cup confectioners' sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and prepare a 9x5 inch baking pan by lightly greasing and flouring it.
  • Combine brown sugar, white sugar, and flour in a large bowl. Mix in melted butter until mixture becomes coarse crumbs. Stir in vanilla extract. Add baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and ginger. Set aside 1/4 cup of this mixture for topping.
  • Combine egg and buttermilk in a separate bowl, then gently fold into the flour mixture. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and sprinkle with the reserved topping.
  • Bake the cake in a preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
