Top tender coffee cake with cinnamon-sugar for a sweet morning indulgence.
Ingredients:
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease only the bottom of a 9-inch square pan with shortening or cooking spray. Mix coffee cake ingredients in a large bowl with a spoon until just moistened. Spread the batter in the pan.
  • Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Poke hot cake all over with a fork. Pour 1/4 cup melted butter over the cake. Combine 3 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl, then sprinkle over the cake. Enjoy warm.
