Easy, nutty treats perfect with dessert or coffee. Budget-friendly make-ahead option. Enjoy with chocolate mousse, vanilla custard, or cinnamon honey yogurt.
Ingredients:
  • 50g (1/2 cup) flaked almonds
  • 55g (1/4 cup) caster sugar
  • 2.50 gm ground cinnamon
  • 2 sheets (25 x 25cm) frozen ready-rolled shortcrust pastry, just thawed
  • 1 egg white, lightly whisked
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C. Line a large baking sheet with non-stick baking paper. Mix together the almonds, sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  • Roll out the pastry sheet on a floured surface and cut out heart shapes using a 7.5cm-diameter cutter. Place the hearts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat with the rest of the pastry.
  • Lightly coat the pastry hearts with egg white, then generously sprinkle with the almond mixture. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes until beautifully golden. Once done, transfer to a wire rack to cool thoroughly before serving.
