Delicious cinnamon roll sticky buns, perfect plain or topped with buttercream or cream cheese frosting!
Ingredients:
  • 4.5 cups all-purpose flour, divided
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup low-fat milk
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 0.33333334326744 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup brown sugar, or to taste
Instructions:
  • In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, mix together 2 cups of flour, yeast, and cinnamon to make the dough.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, mix milk, sugar, and salt. Heat in the microwave in 1-minute intervals until warm, but not hot, for 2 to 3 minutes total.
  • Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and mix on low speed until combined. Stir in the melted butter until well combined. Finally, incorporate the eggs into the mixture.
  • Scrape the paddle attachment clean and replace it with the dough hook. Incorporate the rest of the flour until the dough is easy to handle. Transfer to an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and allow it to rise until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour over a bowl of hot (not boiling) water.
  • Gently press dough down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll into a 1/2-inch thick rectangle. Evenly spread softened butter, then sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar. Roll it up like a jelly roll and cut into 12 pieces. Place the rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover with plastic wrap and a towel and let rise until doubled, about 40 minutes to 1 hour in a warm, draft-free spot. Don't fret if they are not touching; they will expand while baking.
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C while the rolls are rising.
  • Place the rolls in the preheated oven and bake until beautifully golden on top, around 20 to 25 minutes. Once done, take them out and generously brush with the remaining softened butter before serving while still hot.
