Family tradition cinnamon snails - perfect for holidays or anytime fun!
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 0.75 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon superfine sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 egg white, beaten
  • 3 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease the cookie sheets.
  • In a large bowl, thoroughly blend butter or margarine with brown sugar until velvety. Add in 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, baking powder, egg, and vanilla. Gently incorporate flour by hand with a wooden spoon; the dough will be tough.
  • Take tablespoon sized pieces of dough and gently roll them into 6-inch long ropes. Curl up one end slightly to form the head, then spiral the rest of the rope around the head to create the snail shell. Arrange the cookies 2 inches apart on the cookie sheets. Brush the cookies with egg white. Combine the leftover cinnamon and superfine sugar in a small cup and sprinkle it over the snail cookies. Finally, use chocolate chips to make eyes on the heads.
  • Bake cookies in the preheated oven for 8 minutes, or until the bottoms are lightly browned. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for approximately 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
