Decadent fig and date tart with nut-filled cinnamon crust - a delightful dessert treat.
Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 jar (10.5 or 11 oz) fig preserves
  • 1/2 cup chopped pitted dates
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans, toasted
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • Powdered sugar, if desired
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, whisk together butter and granulated sugar until fluffy using an electric mixer. Mix in egg and vanilla. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt; mix until well combined. Form dough into a ball, cover, and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease 9 (3-inch) tart pans with cooking spray. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut the dough into 9 rounds using a 4-inch round cutter, then gently press the rounds into the bottoms and up the sides of the tart pans.
  • Combine preserves, dates, nuts, brown sugar, and allspice in a medium bowl. Fill the dough-lined pans with the mixture.
  • Place pans on a large cookie sheet and bake for 15 minutes or until golden. Let the tarts cool completely on a rack, then gently remove them from the pans and dust with powdered sugar.
