Authentic Cuban picadillo: flavorful ground beef dish perfect over rice or as taco/empanada filling. Quick, easy, and versatile.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 0.5 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced, or more to taste
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 6 large pitted green olives, quartered
  • 0.5 cup raisins
  • 1 tablespoon capers
  • 2 (1.41 ounce) packages sazon seasoning (such as Goya®)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • salt to taste
Instructions:
  • Prepare all your ingredients.
  • In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onion, bell pepper, and garlic in the hot oil until softened, for about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Place the ground beef in the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until it is crumbly and fully browned, for about 7 to 10 minutes.
  • Combine tomato sauce, olives, raisins, capers, cumin, sazon seasoning, sugar, and salt with the ground beef. Cover, simmer over low heat for 5-10 minutes until heated through.
