Revive a beloved family tradition with this nostalgic marbled treat.
Ingredients:
  • 200g butter, softened
  • 322.50 gm caster sugar
  • 8.80 gm vanilla essence
  • 3 eggs
  • 300.00 gm self-raising flour
  • 193.13 gm milk
  • Rose pink food colouring
  • 20.00 gm Cocoa, sifted
  • 125g butter, softened
  • 225.00 gm icing sugar mixture
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180C/160C fan-forced. Grease a 6cm-deep, 19cm square cake pan and line it with baking paper on the base and sides.
  • With an electric mixer, whip together butter, sugar, and vanilla until airy and smooth. Incorporate eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly between each addition. Blend in flour and milk in two portions until fully mixed. Divide the batter evenly into three separate bowls.
  • Color one portion of the mixture pink. Stir in cocoa to the second portion until well combined. Leave the remaining mixture plain. Alternate spooning the mixtures, 1 tablespoon at a time, into the prepared pan. Swirl a butter knife through the batter to create a marbled effect. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Bake the cake for 50 minutes to 1 hour until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack lined with baking paper to cool completely.
  • Beat butter and vanilla with an electric mixer for 5 minutes until light and fluffy. Gradually mix in sugar until well combined. Add pink food coloring to tint. Spread the icing over the top of the cake and serve.
