Inspired by a beloved pumpkin loaf, Vallery Lomas creates a decadent chocolate twist on classic pumpkin pie.
Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
  • 1 (16 ounce) can pumpkin puree
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 large eggs
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Line a 9-inch pie dish with the pie crust and place it on a baking sheet.
  • Melt the finely-chopped chocolate in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Be careful not to overheat to avoid burning or graininess. Set aside the melted chocolate as you continue with the pie filling.
  • In a large bowl, blend pumpkin puree, condensed milk, eggs, and pumpkin pie spice until fully mixed.
  • Combine ½ cup of pumpkin pie filling with melted chocolate, stirring until smooth.
  • Pour the rest of the pie filling in the pie shell. Spoon the chocolate filling over it. Swirl a toothpick or butter knife through the dollops for a marbled effect.
  • After baking in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, reduce heat to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 35-40 minutes until the filling is set. Once done, allow it to cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
