Indulge in delicious, buttery caramel sticky rolls for two with this easy and satisfying homemade recipe.
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 to 2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour or bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package regular active or fast-acting dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1/2 cup warm milk (110°F to 115°F)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • Combine 1 cup of flour with granulated sugar, salt, and yeast in a medium bowl. Add milk, 2 tablespoons of softened butter, and the egg yolk. Use an electric mixer on low speed for 1 minute, scraping the bowl occasionally. Increase speed to medium and beat for another minute, scraping the bowl occasionally. Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/4 cup at a time, until the dough is easy to work with.
  • Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and springy. Grease a medium bowl with shortening, placing the dough in it and turning it to coat all sides. Loosely cover the bowl with plastic wrap, allowing it to rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours until the dough has doubled in size and leaves an indentation when touched.
  • Prepare a luscious caramel sauce by simmering 1/2 cup of rich brown sugar and 1/4 cup of velvety softened butter in a small saucepan until boiling, stirring continuously. Remove from heat and blend in the corn syrup. Pour this heavenly mixture into a greased 8-inch square pan.
  • Combine 1/4 cup brown sugar with 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon in a small bowl; set aside.
  • Press your fist into the dough to release any air bubbles. Then, on a lightly floured surface, use your hands or a rolling pin to flatten the dough into an 8x10-inch rectangle. Spread 2 tablespoons of softened butter over the dough and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Roll up the dough tightly from the 8-inch side, pinching the edge to seal it. Shape the roll evenly with your fingers and cut it into 4 (2-inch) slices using a serrated knife.
  • Arrange slices in the pan with the cut sides facing up, ensuring they are slightly spaced apart. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and allow them to rise in a warm place for 30 to 45 minutes, or until the dough has doubled in size.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake for 28 to 32 minutes until golden brown. Allow to rest for 2 minutes. Place a heatproof tray or serving plate upside down onto the pan, then swiftly turn them over together. Let the pan sit on top of the rolls for 1 minute to let the caramel drizzle. Lift the pan to reveal the delicious rolls and serve them warm.
