Elevate your stuffing game with this delicious sage stuffing recipe that is easy to make and sure to impress!
Ingredients:
  • 1 (1 pound) loaf crusty Italian or French bread, cut into 1/2-inch cubes or, if drying and toasting bread is too much trouble, buy unflavored croutons or bread cubes
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 onions, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 0.25 cup minced fresh parsley leaves
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage, rubbed between fingers
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
  • 0.75 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 large eggs
Instructions:
  • Arrange the bread cubes in a single layer on two large sheet pans and allow them to dry for a few hours or overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and adjust the racks to the lower- and upper-middle positions. Grease a 3-quart baking dish.
  • Bake bread cubes in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 12-15 minutes.
  • Lower the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt butter until sizzling. Cook onions and celery until tender, about 8 to 10 minutes. Transfer to a spacious bowl.
  • Combine bread, parsley, sage, thyme, salt, pepper, chicken broth, and eggs with the onion mixture until evenly mixed. Then, transfer the mixture to the baking dish and cover it with foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes until steamy. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the top is crusty. Serve immediately.
