Cocktail sausage mummies

Kids' favorite: adorable cocktail sausage mummies.
Ingredients:
  • 24 beef chipolata sausages
  • 1 egg, lightly whisked
  • 4 sheets (25 x 25cm) ready rolled puff pastry
  • American mustard, to decorate
  • Tomato sauce, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 200C and prepare 2 baking trays by lining them with baking paper.
  • Preheat the grill on medium-high. Grill the sausages for 6-8 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and fully cooked. Once done, set them aside to cool.
  • Take a small sharp knife to slice the pastry into 1cm-thick strips. Gently coat the pastry with a bit of beaten egg. Wrap 2-3 pastry strips around each sausage like bandages, making sure to leave a small gap at one end for the face. Trim off any extra pastry. Arrange on the prepared tray, and continue with the rest of the sausages, pastry, and egg.
  • - Preheat oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes, swapping trays halfway, until golden brown and puffed. Let cool slightly. Decorate mummies with American mustard eyes. Serve on a platter with mustard and tomato sauce.
