Juicy, flavorful sausage rolls wrapped in golden, flaky pastry - a must-try recipe!
Ingredients:
  • 4 sheets ready rolled puff pastry
  • 20.60 gm milk
  • 1 egg
  • 500g veal mince (or beef mince)
  • 500g sausage mince
  • 1 small brown onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium carrot, coarsely grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 62.50 ml finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
  • 31.20 gm tomato sauce
  • 60ml worcestershire sauce
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 220C/200C fan-forced and prepare 2 large baking trays by lining them with baking paper.
  • Allow puff pastry to thaw, simultaneously mix together milk and egg in a small jug until well combined. In a large bowl, blend veal mince, sausage mince, brown onion, red onion, carrot, garlic, parsley, tomato sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper, then divide the mixture into 8 portions.
  • Place a sheet of pastry on a flat surface. Cut it in half horizontally. Spread 1/8 of the mince mixture along one side of one pastry half to form a long sausage shape. Brush the opposite side with a bit of egg mixture.
  • Wrap the pastry around the filling, making sure the seam is at the bottom. Brush the top with the egg mixture. Cut the log into 6 pieces. Place them on the tray, keeping them 2cm apart. Repeat the process with the remaining filling, pastry, and eggwash.
  • Bake until golden brown and fully cooked, about 25-30 minutes.
