Create a delightful and adorable bear-themed birthday party cake that will leave everyone impressed.
Ingredients:
  • 2 packets Golden Buttercake packet cake mix
  • 250g unsalted butter, at room temperature, chopped
  • 450.00 gm pure icing sugar, sifted
  • 1 to 20.60 gm milk
  • 20.00 gm cocoa powder, sifted
  • 2 to 10.40 gm milk
  • 750.00 ml Coco Pops
  • 2 white Choc Melts
  • 2 blue Smarties
  • 1 red Smartie
  • 120g packet black licorice strap
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 160C. Grease a 7cm deep, 20cm round cake pan, line the base with baking paper, and also grease three 1/3-cup (80ml) capacity muffin holes.
  • Prepare the cake mixes according to the packet instructions in a large bowl. Fill two-thirds of the muffin holes with the batter and spread the remaining batter into a pan, smoothly leveling the surface. Bake the muffins for 20 minutes and the cake for 50 to 55 minutes or until fully cooked. After baking, let the muffins and cake cool in the pans for 5 minutes, then gently turn them onto wire racks to completely cool.
  • Prepare the Butter icing: Using an electric mixer, whip the butter until pale and creamy. Gradually blend in the icing sugar, 1/2 cup at a time, ensuring it's well incorporated. Adjust the consistency by adding milk until the icing is easily spreadable. For chocolate icing, mix cocoa powder and 2 teaspoons milk into the base butter icing. Beat the mixture, adding more milk if needed, until the icing reaches a spreadable consistency.
  • Begin by leveling the top of the cake for a smooth base. Next, place the cake in the center of a board and generously spread icing over the top and sides. Then, cut a quarter from 2 muffins and affix them as ears, before placing the remaining muffin as the nose. Lastly, ice the top and sides of the nose and ears for a finished look.
  • Sprinkle Coco Pops over the cake, making sure to cover the nose and ears. Drizzle icing over the center of the ears, leaving a small border.
  • Using a touch of icing, carefully stick blue Smarties onto chocolate melts for eyes. Create a triangle from licorice strap for the nose and two long, thin strips for the mouth. Complete the face with a red Smartie for the tongue.
