Whip up Chef John's refreshing coffee granita for a cool summer treat.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups prepared strong black coffee
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons coffee-flavored liqueur
Instructions:
  • Collect all the necessary ingredients.
  • Whisk together coffee, sugar, and coffee liqueur in a bowl until the sugar dissolves.
  • Transfer the mixture into an 8x12- or 9x13-inch dish. Place in the freezer, uncovered, until it slightly firms up around the edges, approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  • Using a fork, break up the frozen pieces into the liquid, and crush any large pieces with the back of the fork.
  • Continue to place the mixture back in the freezer every half hour until it reaches your preferred texture, repeating this step 4 to 5 times.
  • For optimal taste, chill in the freezer for 8 hours or overnight before serving. Enjoy immediately!
