Vintage family recipe for a classic homemade pie.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups Concord grapes
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 recipe pastry for a 9-inch double-crust pie
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and place a foil-lined sheet pan on the lower rack.
  • Separate the grapes from the stems, gently pressing the pulp out of the skins into a saucepan while keeping the skins in a separate bowl.
  • Simmer the pulp in a saucepan over gentle heat, stirring regularly, until the seeds start to emerge.
  • Transfer the pulp back into the skins, gently scraping off the seeds with a spoon. Mix in sugar, flour, and lemon juice.
  • Press pastry into a 9-inch pie pan, add filling, and create a lattice top with the remaining pastry.
  • Place the dish in the preheated oven on a sheet pan for approximately 50 minutes, or until the crust turns a beautiful golden brown and the filling starts to bubble.
