Make delicious copycat Waffle House hash browns at home with a perfect mix of crispy and flavorful toppings.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 ½ cups frozen shredded hash browns, partially thawed
  • 2 tablespoons diced onion
  • ¼ cup diced ham
  • 1 thick American cheese slice
Instructions:
  • Combine butter and oil in a small bowl, reserving 2 teaspoons of the mixture. Heat the remaining mixture in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Place hash browns in a round shape about 5 inches wide on one side of the skillet. Cook undisturbed until edges are crispy and golden brown, approximately 5 minutes.
  • After flipping hash browns, let them cook without stirring until the other side is golden brown and crispy, for 4 to 5 more minutes. Next, spread the reserved butter mixture on the opposite side of the skillet and add the onion. Cook while stirring frequently for 2 minutes. Then, add the ham to the onion and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Once done, place the onions and ham on top of the cooked hash browns, add a slice of cheese on top, turn off the heat, and allow the cheese to melt. Serve immediately.
