Apple cake with cinnamon streusel made with Gold Medal® flour - a scrumptious dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup Gold Medal™ whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup cold butter or margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 cups very thinly sliced peeled apples
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray. Combine topping ingredients in a small bowl and mix with a pastry blender or fork until crumbly; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, mix together all cake ingredients, except apples, with an electric mixer on medium speed for 3 minutes, scraping the bowl frequently. Spread the batter in the pan and evenly arrange apple slices over it. Sprinkle the topping evenly on top.
  • Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Enjoy warm with a side of ice cream or whipped cream.
