Create festive holiday bars by combining macadamia nuts, cranberries, and sugar cookie base.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup sweetened dried cranberries
  • 1 cup macadamia nuts, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 cup white vanilla baking chips
  • 1 teaspoon oil
Instructions:
  • In a mixing bowl, combine cookie mix, 1/3 cup of melted butter, and an egg until a soft dough forms. Press the dough into the bottom of a greased 9-inch square pan. Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes until golden brown.
  • In a saucepan, melt 1/3 cup of butter with brown sugar and cranberries over medium heat, stirring constantly until it boils. Spread this cranberry mixture over a partially baked cookie base, then sprinkle with nuts. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until light golden brown. Allow it to cool completely.
  • Combine baking chips and oil in a resealable freezer bag. Seal the bag and microwave on High in 15-second intervals, squeezing the bag to mix until smooth. Cut a 1/4-inch hole from the corner of the bag and drizzle the mixture over the bars.
