Impress guests with chocolate cupcakes using Betty Crocker® frosting and decorating gel, made with Gold Medal® all-purpose flour.
Ingredients:
  • 1 2/3 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup baking cocoa
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Chocolate Frosting
  • Assorted candies and cookies, if desired
  • 1 tube (0.68 oz) Betty Crocker™ black decorating gel, if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F and line 24 regular-size muffin cups with paper baking cups.
  • Mix all ingredients, excluding frosting, candies, cookies, and decorating gel in a large bowl using an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping the sides of the bowl. Increase the speed to high and beat for 2 minutes, occasionally scraping the sides of the bowl. Fill the cupcake liners to half full.
  • Bake the cupcakes for 15 to 20 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Then transfer them from the pan to a wire rack to cool completely, approximately 30 minutes.
  • Frost the entire surface and creatively adorn with candies to resemble butterflies and ladybugs.
