Cheesy ground beef and potato casserole topped with crispy onions for a comforting family meal.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup, divided
  • 4 (4 ounce) cans sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1 cup milk, divided
  • 0.5 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • 4 cups peeled and thinly sliced potatoes
  • 0.5 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 0.75 cup French-fried onions
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a 7x11-inch baking pan.
  • In a hot skillet, brown and crumble the beef for 5 to 7 minutes. Discard the grease.
  • Combine a can of creamy mushroom soup, fresh mushrooms, 3/4 cup of milk, seasoned salt, and black pepper in a bowl, then gently incorporate the potatoes.
  • Layer the prepared baking pan with half of the potato mixture and sprinkle Cheddar cheese on top. Spread half of the ground beef over the cheese. Add the remaining potato mixture over the ground beef, then layer with the rest of the ground beef.
  • Combine the remaining can of cream of mushroom soup with 1/4 cup of milk, then evenly pour the mixture over the ground beef layer.
  • Bake the casserole in the preheated oven until it's bubbling, for about 1 hour 20 minutes. Sprinkle French-fried onions over the top and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
