Crunchy Oven Fried Tilapia

Crispy oven-baked tilapia perfectly seasoned with cornmeal and basil for a guilt-free "fried" taste.
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • pepper
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 pound tilapia fillets
  • 0.25 cup dried bread crumbs
  • 0.25 cup cornmeal
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried basil, crushed
Instructions:
  • Get the oven ready by preheating it to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C) and coat a shallow baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Mix the flour, salt, and pepper in a shallow dish, then set it aside.
  • Whisk egg whites in a shallow dish until light and frothy. Mix together bread crumbs, cornmeal, and basil in a separate shallow dish.
  • Coat fillets in flour, then egg whites, and finish with breadcrumbs. Shake off any excess in between dips.
  • Place the fillets in the baking dish, ensuring they are tucked in neatly for even cooking.
  • Cook the dish in the already hot oven until the fish easily flakes with a fork, for 10 to 15 minutes.
