Dad's cinnamon roll dough scones fried to crispy perfection. Perfect Sunday indulgence drizzled with honey, jam, or powdered sugar.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups milk, scalded and cooled
  • 2 tablespoons margarine, melted
  • 2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
  • 0.5 cup warm water
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 7 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups oil for frying
Instructions:
  • Combine scalded milk, sugar, margarine, and salt in a large bowl. In a separate small bowl, mix yeast and warm water until foamy. Let it stand for 10 minutes.
  • Combine the yeast mixture with the milk mixture, incorporate the eggs, then gradually add the flour one cup at a time to create a soft dough. Cover the bowl and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
  • In a deep heavy skillet, heat one inch of oil to 370 degrees F (180 degrees C. Take large handfuls of dough, flatten into pancakes, and fry in the hot oil until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels.
