Danish-style pickled red cabbage for festive dinners, perfect with roast duck or turkey. Add black currant jam for a flavor boost when reheating.
Ingredients:
  • 1 small head red cabbage, cored and shredded
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 cups white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 cups water
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan, combine cabbage with sugar, vinegar, salt, and water. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer over medium heat for 1 hour. Serve immediately or chill and reheat in smaller portions later on.
