Indulge in traditional Danish holiday dilled shrimp, a must-have on any festive table. Elevate your Christmas feast with platters piled high with succulent shrimp, a Scandinavian favorite.
Ingredients:
  • 2 quarts water
  • 0.25 cup coarse salt
  • 0.33333334326744 cup white sugar
  • 5 sprigs dill
  • 2 pounds medium shrimp, with shells
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon minced dill
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon pepper
Instructions:
  • In a large pot, bring water to a boil over high heat. Stir in salt, sugar, and dill sprigs until sugar dissolves. Add shrimp and cook until shells turn pink and meat is no longer translucent, approximately 3 to 4 minutes. Strain shrimp using a colander, remove dill sprigs, and chill in the refrigerator until cold, about 30 minutes.
  • After the shrimp have cooled, remove shells and devein them. Whisk together oil, vinegar, minced dill, salt, and pepper, then coat the shrimp with the mixture. Refrigerate overnight, and serve with fresh dill sprigs.
