Whole wheat scones with chopped dates and chocolate chips for a delightful, sweet twist.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 0.33333334326744 cup cold butter
  • 0.75 cup chopped dates
  • 0.5 cup chocolate chips
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • milk for brushing
  • extra sugar and cinnamon to sprinkle
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and grease a baking sheet.
  • Combine the wheat and all-purpose flours, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cinnamon in a large bowl. Blend in the butter until the mixture looks like fine breadcrumbs. Add the dates and chocolate chips. Pour in the milk and mix until just combined to form a dough ball.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and shape it into a 1/2-inch thick circle. Use a floured round cookie cutter to cut out scones. Arrange the scones on a greased baking sheet, brush with milk, and sprinkle with a cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  • Bake in a hot oven until puffed and beautifully golden, about 10 to 12 minutes.
