Classic and beloved crowd-pleaser dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 140g muesli
  • 150g plain flour
  • 220g raw sugar
  • 45g desiccated coconut
  • 100g walnut
  • 150g date
  • 100g butter
  • 53.60 gm golden syrup
  • 20.00 gm hot water
  • 1.25 gm bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 egg, lightly whisked
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180C. Prepare a 19 x 29cm slice pan by greasing and lining it with baking paper, ensuring the paper overhangs the edges.
  • Mix together the oats, flour, sugar, coconut, walnuts, and dates in a large bowl.
  • In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter with golden syrup and water until smooth, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in bicarbonate of soda. Combine with oat mixture and egg until well mixed. Spread evenly in the prepared pan using the back of a spoon.
  • Bake in a preheated oven until golden brown and firm to the touch, about 30 minutes. Let cool for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and serve.
