Deep-Fried Panko Shrimp

Create crunchy, flavorful fried shrimp using Panko bread crumbs for the perfect crispy coating.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying, or as needed
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 1.5 cups panko bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.13 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 pound large shrimp - peeled, deveined, and tails left on
Instructions:
  • Preheat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 350°F (175°C).
  • Beat eggs in a small bowl until frothy.
  • In a large resealable plastic bag, mix together panko bread crumbs, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Seal the bag and shake well to combine all the flavors.
  • Coat shrimp in beaten egg, then panko mixture. Transfer coated shrimp to a plate and continue with remaining shrimp.
  • Fry shrimp in small batches in the hot oil until breading is golden brown and shrimp are cooked through, about 1 1/2 minutes for each batch.
  • Using a slotted spoon, transfer the shrimp to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Repeat with the remaining shrimp.
