Renowned chef from Seasonal Appetites shares a top recipe.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 3 tablespoons hot water
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Combine Bisquick mix and butter in a large bowl using a pastry cutter or two knives until it resembles small peas. Add water to form a soft, crumbly dough. Press dough into the bottom and ½ inch up the sides of an 8 or 9-inch square pan.
  • Bake the crust for 15 minutes until golden brown, then take it out of the oven.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together brown sugar, eggs, butter, bourbon, and vanilla until smooth. Add pecan halves and mix well. Pour the egg mixture over the crust, then evenly sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  • Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the topping is golden and set. Allow to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack for around 1 hour, and then slice into 5 by 5 rows.
