Quick and budget-friendly recipe for versatile sandwiches and snacks. Customize oil and salt to taste.
Ingredients:
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 0.33300000429153 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • Combine sugar and yeast in warm water in a small bowl. Allow the mixture to sit until creamy, which should take around 10 minutes.
  • Combine the yeasty mixture with flour in a large bowl, then mix until well combined. Gradually stir in extra water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until all the flour is absorbed. Once the dough is formed, transfer it onto a lightly floured surface and knead briefly for about 1 minute.
  • Oil a large bowl, add the dough, and coat it with oil. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, around 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 475 degrees F (245 degrees C).
  • Gently release the air from the dough and transfer it to a lightly floured surface; knead briefly. Shape the dough into a sheet and place it on a lightly greased baking sheet. Brush the dough with oil and sprinkle with salt.
  • Bake focaccia in preheated oven for 10-20 minutes according to your desired crispness: 10 minutes for a moist and fluffy texture, or 20 minutes for a crunchier, darker crust.
