Stovetop chocolate custard infused with brandy and rich Dutch cocoa powder, ready in just 10 minutes. Simply chill and enjoy!
Ingredients:
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups low-fat milk
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 0.25 cup Dutch-process cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon brandy
  • 0.125 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs and vanilla extract until well blended; set aside.
  • Combine milk, sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, brandy, and salt in a saucepan, whisking until smooth. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils and thickens, about 6-8 minutes. Reduce heat to low.
  • Pour half of the milk mixture into the beaten eggs gradually while stirring. Then return the mixture to the saucepan. Cook, stirring continuously, until thickened, about 2 to 3 minutes. Be careful not to let it boil.
  • Allow the custard to cool to room temperature for a minimum of 10 minutes, then chill in the refrigerator until firm, for at least 4 hours.
