Savory lasagna layered with mushrooms, onions, ground beef, and a mix of creamy cheeses, no pre-cooking required.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 (4.5 ounce) can mushrooms, drained
  • 1 (28 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
  • 1 (16 ounce) package cottage cheese
  • 1 pint part-skim ricotta cheese
  • 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 (16 ounce) package lasagna noodles
  • 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Prepare the sauce: Brown ground beef in a large skillet until crumbly. Add onion and mushrooms, sauté until onions are transparent. Mix in pasta sauce and heat through. Set aside.
  • Prepare the filling by mixing cottage cheese, ricotta, eggs, and Parmesan in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  • Start by coating the bottom of a 13x9-inch dish with a delicate layer of meat sauce. Follow with a layer of uncooked lasagna noodles, cheese filling, mozzarella, and more meat sauce. Repeat these layers until all ingredients are used, saving half a cup of mozzarella for later. Lastly, cover the dish with aluminum foil.
  • Bake in a preheated oven for 45 minutes. Uncover and sprinkle the reserved 1/2 cup of mozzarella on top. Bake until the cheese is melted, about 15 minutes more. Allow the lasagna to rest for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
