Surprise your Valentine with elegant mini cream puffs filled with sweet cream and fresh strawberries.
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup cold whipping cream
  • 12 large strawberries, hulled
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar, or to taste
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and chill a mixing bowl in the freezer.
  • In a saucepan, simmer water, butter, and salt until boiling.
  • Take the pan off the heat and swiftly stir in the flour using a wooden spoon, pressing and beating the dough until it forms a ball and stops sticking to the sides of the pan.
  • Add the first egg and beat until the dough is smooth. Then add the second egg and beat until the dough starts to form strands, about 5 minutes.
  • Separate dough into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a round ball and arrange them 2 inches apart on a baking sheet without grease.
  • Place in the oven that has been preheated until your creation has puffed up and turned golden brown, around 20 minutes. Then, take it out and allow it to cool on a wire rack.
  • In a chilled mixing bowl, pour in cold cream and then add white sugar. Beat with a hand mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Cut the tops off the cooled cream puffs to reveal their hollow centers. Fill the top and bottom cavities with a generous tablespoon of whipped cream, place a strawberry in the middle, and then sandwich the two halves together. Arrange on a plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
