Egg and dairy-free cake recipe, great for decorating. Customize in vanilla or chocolate - why not try both flavors!
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups cake flour
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.75 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.75 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 5 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Prepare a 9x9-inch cake pan by greasing and flouring it.
  • In a large bowl, combine cake flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt by whisking them together. Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together water, vegetable oil, vinegar, and vanilla extract until fully combined. Pour the wet ingredients into the flour mixture.
  • Mix the batter until it is velvety and free of lumps. Transfer the batter into the greased cake pan.
  • Bake in a preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until the cake springs back when lightly touched and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan on a wire rack for 15 minutes before transferring it to finish cooling on the rack.
